While you enjoy some time on your own, Carnival will be happy to take care of children ages 11 and under. You’ll be assigned to one of them, depending on whether you choose set-time, assigned-table dining or flexible anytime dining. The biggest differences between them, however, are the dining and entertainment options available on each – and Carnival Vista beats both. Carnival Magic and Carnival Dream lack the IMAX theater, Dr. Seuss Bookville and SkyRide that Carnival Vista has. In addition, Dream does not have a SportSquare or a SkyCourse, which Carnival Vista does. Between the laid-back and friendly passengers, always-smiling crew and plethora of onboard activities, Carnival Vista maintains a vibe that is young at heart and down to earth.
Is Carnival Vista a good ship to cruise on?
As one of Carnival’s newer ships, Vista has a ton of indoor and outdoor activities and attractions to keep you entertained on sea days. The ship’s daily newsletter will list all the events hosted by the ship’s activity staff, from dance lessons to silly contests. Carnival’s stand-alone restaurants with sit-down dining maintain the ship's family-friendly, casual vibe with a couple of fine dining options thrown in for date night. Aft of the Lido Marketplace is Pizzeria del Capitano, the ship’s 24-hour pizzeria.
Balcony (FM)
CCL Panorama ship has 18 Havana Cabana and 86 Family Harbor staterooms - nautically-themed, with exclusive access to private facilities (Cafe-Bar-Lounge, Sundeck with a swimming pool). Aft-View Extended Balcony staterooms feature a larger balcony for more lounge-around room, more kick-back space... Not to even mention some of the best stern-side views you'll find anywhere. And, yes, you can track down a veggie burger on the pool deck and load it up from the Guy’s Burger Joint toppings bar – just like the meat eaters in your travel party.
Small Interior Single Cabin
Each of the cabins has a safe (located in the closet) with approx dimensions (inches/centimeters) - width (10/25), height (9/23) and depth (8/20). It is advisable not to use a valid credit card (or driver's license), but an old expired card (or some rewards card) instead. Life jackets are used in cases of emergency only (not at the ship pools). Lifejackets are located within passenger/crew cabins (in the closet). Bathroom amenities vary each time, so it's advisable you bring your own. Samples may include toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, body lotion, razor, antiacids.
Carnival’s hallmark dining room dessert is the molten chocolate cake, and shouldn’t be missed. Other fun menu options include dishes inspired by the ports of call and a “Rare Finds” section featuring more adventurous options, such as escargot, frog legs, or ox tongue. You don’t need to bust your budget to enjoy dining variety on Carnival Vista. Even its date-night venues have lower cover charges than extra-fee restaurants on other cruise lines. Even on a 10-night cruise, we weren't able to get to everything on Carnival Vista.
Oceanview (OV)
Vista is Carnival's "the most family-friendly ship" with the company's newest kids- and family-dedicated staterooms, facilities and amenities. The Carnival’s Sail & Sign card (cashless onboard credit account) doubles as stateroom key. The S&S credit program allows charges on purchases and tips/gratuities directly to a personal account throughout the Carnival cruise. The card has a designated owner and must be utilized for all money transactions on the ship as cash is accepted as a form of payment only at the casino. These cards are provided to all passengers (incl minors) immediately upon boarding the ship.
